What is a private jet empty leg?
An empty leg is a private jet flight an aircraft has to make without passengers, usually to return to base or reach its next charter. Because the flight happens anyway, it can sometimes be priced below a standard charter. Availability is short-notice and not guaranteed.
Why empty legs exist
A charter often flies one way with passengers. The aircraft then has to reposition, with an empty cabin, to its base or to the next trip. That repositioning flight is the empty leg.
Why prices vary
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Operator and aircraft | Different aircraft and operators price differently. |
| Route and timing | The leg only helps you if its route and date match your trip. |
| Time to departure | Legs are typically short-notice and can change or disappear. |
1000jets does not publish a standard discount for empty legs. Any price is shown as an itemised quote, with the 5% platform fee on its own line.
How to ask
This site does not list flights, because a static page would go stale. Tell us your route and say you are flexible on timing in the quote request, or see the empty-legs page. More questions are answered in the FAQ.
